Since the Talking Heads disbanded, David Byrne has taken quite a circuitous route. Along the way there have been film scores, dance and opera projects, visual art, and more recently a memoir about riding his bike through the world’s cities.

Organizers of the Short Circuit festival originally targeted well-known electronic musicians/composers like Vangelis, Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream, but its organizers opted instead for a more diverse, exhaustive, obscure lineup that may be household names to the devoted but will provide an impressive history lesson in electronic arts for the less electronically-inclined.
A slew of multimedia artists from Barcelona’s 2009 avant-garde electronic music/media arts festival Sonar – including a robot orchestra operated with a midi controller – will perform on Friday, May 15.
